The classic American dream was always about the single family residence with the white picket fence. Nowadays it seems like more and more people struggle to afford owning. Millennials often find themselves in the rental trap. This does not have to be the case as the American dream home has evolved over the years. There are many options and resources out there from the type of home, you get you attached townhouses, high-rise condominiums, 2-3 story condos, a plethora of options to choose from. According to Zillow.com, these are some of the top things to consider: “Price, housing type, neighborhood, school quality, home size, renovation tolerance” (Zillow.com). All of these factors are important before making a decision so you can better prepare your budget over the next 3-5 years if it is a starter home and oftentimes long term if you plan on retiring there.
