No Brainer Tips to Simplify & De-junk your Life

No Brainer Tips to Simplify & De-junk your Life!

Annette Bui | Updated March 21, 2019 | Lifestyle

It gets so easy to collect things over the years simply because it is a good deal, or you find it sentimental. For me, I was always hung up on keeping everything I have ever owned. Which, in hindsight is quite ridiculous when you have so much you don't even know where anything belongs that result in having multiple versions of the same piece.

De-junking your home and ultimately your closet is a very appealing idea to lighten the load of unnecessary items that pile up over time to collect dust in a drawer or shelf somewhere. Wouldn't it feel nice to simply get rid of all that is unnecessary?

You can even sell some of these items or trade in for credit or alternative household items that you can put to good use. Therefore, it is important to focus on what truly matters and simplifying your closet from items you never touch to pieces that can be donated. There are even services that will come and pick up your items curb side and you will get a tax write off if you get a receipt for it!

What a great way to turn trash into cash, add more value to a minimalist lifestyle so that you can restore some more structure back into your life. Like everything else, it requires thoughtful planning on which items you do not wear. If the thought is so overwhelming, you can use a trick to turn you hanger in the closet backwards and at the end of each year. If that article is still hanging backwards, then it is clear you are not going to wear it and is time to get go.

Minimize your Wardrobe-take advantage of websites and apps that allow for you to easily take pictures and sell your clothes such as Poshmark or Mercari. It's an easy way to get rid of pieces you never wear and eliminate the ones simply taking up space.

Meal Plan

The best hack is to plan and investigate meal prep. The advantage of this is you don't have to worry about what to make every day, your meals will have more nutritious and healthier alternatives than the quick and easy fast food options.

Sweep Clean Social Media- the point of social media is to stay connected, but it is easy to start building up your social media over time. Look back at the number of people you interact with. If here is no interaction or too much negativity, then you should consider sweeping.

Detox your Computer- back up the essential files you need or upload to a cloud drive. Everything else should be cleaned out and organized accordingly. You don't need all the unnecessary files and downloads slowing your system down.

You would be surprised how great you will feel once this is accomplished. The value of getting rid of all that junk is now you will be able to access everything easier, save time from having to run around locating things around the house and most importantly, focus on the core essential pieces.
